Welcome to Summer 2

This is a quick, handy guide to what's coming up in school over the next few weeks, including important dates, events and useful reminders. We really appreciate your ongoing support and hope you find this helpful.

Important Dates

  • Sweet Jars Competition β€” From 1st June to 19th June, we are asking families to wash out any empty jars, fill them with sweets, and bring them into school for our Summer Fayre. The class that brings in the most filled sweet jars will win a Milkshake and Treats Party!
  • School Class Photos β€” Class Photos will take place throughout 3rd, 4th and 5th June. Please ensure children have their school jumpers.
  • Tennis Workshop β€” Atlantic Racquet Centre will be hosting assemblies and workshops about tennis. Year 3 pupils will be taught by trained coaches in a variety of activities.
  • School Class Photos β€” Class Photos will take place throughout 3rd, 4th and 5th June. Please ensure children have their school jumpers.

  • Immortal Jellyfish - Geography Fieldwork and Library Trip β€” Pupils will be making their termly visit to the library. On the way back to school, they will be undertaking some geographical fieldwork by looking at Bideford's physical and natural features, and creating a sketch map based on this.
  • Mimic Octopus - Geography Fieldwork and Library Trip β€” Pupils will be making their termly visit to the library. On the way back to school, they will be undertaking some geographical fieldwork by looking at Bideford's physical and natural features, and creating a sketch map based on this.
  • Bagged Lunch in class β€” The hall will be out of use for the Space Dome. Bagged lunches will be sausage and chips with traybake for pudding.
  • Music Workshop β€” Year 3 pupils will have the opportunity to work with a musical director. They will be experimenting with pitch and tempo to create an atmospheric soundscape.
  • Science Day β€” This Science Day, year 3 pupils will be conducting an investigation to extend their knowledge about animals including humans. They will be designing an experiment to find correlations between our bodies and our athletic abilities.
  • After School Clubs to finish this week
  • Summer Fayre 2026 β€” Our Annual Summer Fayre returns! Join us for live music, performances from our school Dance Club, BBQ, Games, Refreshments, Raffle and all the classic from 15:30. For more information click here.
  • Transition Morning β€” After break, your child will be meeting their new teacher in their year 4 classroom.
  • RHS Garden Rosemoor Trip β€” Thanks to fundraising from our PTA, we will be building on our science knowledge by undertaking a workshop about plant life cycles and reproduction followed by a tour around the gardens.
  • French Afternoon β€” This afternoon, we will be immersing ourselves in the French culture by learning French through games and activities.
